Patio
Previous design[edit]
When the house was bought in 2007, the pool was surrounded by grass except for the concrete pad beyond the deep end. The problem was that every week when the grass got mowed, we had to move everything and then put it back. Some sort of paved surface was desired.

Phases[edit]
First section[edit]
The first was mainly done by Jared under Steve's direction, using bricks salvaged from when a large part of East Wheeling was torn down to build the athletic field. Before the bricks could be used, the old mortar had to be removed with a hammer. We had a large operation at the end of the driveway to clean the hundreds of bricks involved. The bricks were lain in April 2014.

Second Section[edit]
The second section was added in April 2019 using used bricks purchased from Lollini. These bricks had very little mortar and could be used directly. The prep work was done by Steve and Andy, with some help from the family when it came time to lay the bricks.

Pergola[edit]
A pergola was added over the second brick section over the summer of 2021. Designed by Adam Mull to Raina's specifications and constructed by Steve and Andy. It was paitned by the amazing Jules, Mama, and sometimes Camille. A post had been set in the first brick patio section anticipating the pergola, but by the time construction began the location had changed. The post served to host some clematis and a hummingbird feeder for a while, but it was removed when construction of the real pergola began.
